Deny Parole for Devin Jamison!

Deny Parole for Devin Jamison!

The Issue

Devin Jamison has a parole hearing on August 27th, 2015. He is one of the three who participated in kidnapping a young man at gunpoint to get into an apartment, which my son shared with other young men in Knoxville. During the robbery of one of the roommates, Devin Jamison gave the command "bust him" to Jaron Harris the 18 year old with him. It was after this command that Jaron shot my son, Sawyer, in the chest three times. When it was time for the trial Devin Jamison took a plea for 25 years, and we were told that he would be up for parole after serving 30% of his sentence. He has not served 30% of his sentence. He gave the command to shoot, and is hailed a hero on a website by the Blackfoot Soldiers for his involvement in the unnecessary and heinous act of killing Sawyer. The shooter got a life sentence with added years for other crimes. It seems to me that Devin should have gotten the same sentence. Our community, Knoxville, and surrounding areas will be safer with Devin Jamison not out on parole. Devin never apologized or showed the least bit of remorse for participating in taking the life of my son. There was no respect for Sawyer's life or for his suffering family. It is my opinion that Devin Jamison needs to fulfill his 25 years in prison, therefore parole needs to be denied.

To say that Sawyer is greatly missed is a tremendous understatement. His physical absence fills every day with sadness and grief. As a single mom for seven years, Sawyer and I were extremely close. I still cannot believe that I will never be able to love his children. His cutest baby clothes are in a box in the basement, as they were saved to surprise Sawyer after I bathed his baby/babies. Three years and ten months after the worst day of my life, I continue to see a counselor and take medication for severe depression, PTSD, and anxiety. A two year leave from work was a necessity as the tears came so quickly and at times unexpectedly. Sawyer's grandparents are lost without their grandson. Their hope for his future was shattered. Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends still miss and long for him. He was the life of gatherings with his quick wit, hugs, genuine charm, beautiful smile, and musical talent. He was such an important person in the future for many of us. Now, there is no future with Sawyer, no vacations, no hugs, no pictures, no fun, no grandbabies, etc. Devin Jamison has no idea of the number of people he has hurt and changed for the rest of their lives, nor does it appear that he cares. He has not even served four full years.

Please sign this petition in agreement that parole should be denied for Devin Jamison. I will present a total number of signatures and a list to the parole board.
