I can’t stay silent anymore. And I’m not the only one.

Since I started sharing Penelope’s story, so many people have reached out to me privately with their own horror stories involving UT Health Athens — people too scared or too tired to speak up themselves. So I’m going to speak for them — anonymously, but loud.

🩹 One person went in after surgery because their incision had reopened and was bleeding. The ER told them not to bandage it. They woke up later soaked in blood from the very wound they were told to leave exposed.

🪨 Another person in severe kidney stone pain was told by UT there were no stones, so they were denied pain meds and sent home. They took the same scans to Christus, where FIVE stones were found and treated. This same person knows a diabetic woman who was refused insulin while inpatient at UT. She begged her son to take her home before they “killed her.”

🚑 An 81-year-old woman rear-ended at 50mph begged EMS to take her to Christus — they forced her to UT Health ER… in the same ambulance as the person who hit her. She's an ER nurse herself and says she would never choose UT.

🚨 One mother’s husband had surgery complications. The ER said he was fine, gave morphine, and tried to send him home. When she pushed for better care, she was threatened with CPS. At Children’s Hospital, they found his bladder was 6x the size of an adult’s. UT claimed they didn’t know how to treat kids — yet still threatened her for trying to get better help.

🧠 One baby got stuck during birth and ended up with cerebral palsy because UT ignored the mother’s repeated cries for an emergency C-section. They later tried to blame her by pointing to THC in her system.

💔 One woman had to call 911 twice for her husband, who was having a heart attack. EMS took over an hour to arrive. He died. She now says UT EMS killed her husband.

⚠️ Another mother went in for an emergency C-section, and UT called CPS on her. They accused her of being an addict, having an eating disorder, and trying to hide her baby with a home birth — all without cause. It took five months of hell to clear her name and get her life back.

And these are just the ones I’ve received so far.

This is bigger than one case. This is a pattern. A systemic failure of a hospital that was trusted to care for the most vulnerable — and time after time, it failed.

If you or someone you love has been hurt by UT Health Athens, you are not alone. Please keep sharing these stories with me. Let’s keep the pressure on.
