We are incredibly concerned about the actions the school and superintendent is taking in regards to the Corona Virus. There has now been TWO local cases and the Superintendent continues to say they have no connection to FCPS. These people go to grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants near where they work and live exposing many people who do have connections to FCPS. This is incredibly negligent. Parents not only want to ensure that their children do not contract this, but also want to ensure they are not quarantined and stuck at the school. Leaving the schools open is incredibly negligent. People have wiped out the water, toilet paper, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, and hand soaps from stores showing they have no intention of going out unless absolutely necessary. This also shows that with the large amounts of people going into these stores that the chance of undiagnosed people spreading the virus is high. I recently had two Pulmonary Embolisms, Peritonitis, and a surgery. My husband recently had the flu and walking pneumonia. He is a diabetic and we both have autoimmune diseases. We have a four year old and an infant that we cannot risk getting sick. If you all are not going to close the schools, parents should at least have the option to keep their kids home. People should not be in closed quarters like schools right now, it is practically an incubator. The amount of parents who want the schools closed on social media far outweighs those who do not. Half a country (Northern Italy) is quarantined. An entire ship quarantined, but yet the schools which are a huge hotspot are not. Please close the schools. At the very least, give the parents an option with excused absences.
