Inhumane Treatment of the Homeless at Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston, VA.

Inhumane Treatment of the Homeless at Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston, VA.
The Issue
The staff members of the Embry Rucker Shelter's hypothermia program in Reston, VA have treated program participants in a way that reflects sheer disregard for their humanity, health, and mental well being.
Program participants are not allowed to shower everyday, they've repeatedly had their personal belongings thrown in the garbage by staff, they have been abruptly ejected from the shelter in retaliation for blowing the whistle on staff misconduct, and have been victims of medical neglect via staff's dereliction of duty to dispense medication and wilful failure to provide crucial accommodations for disabled program participants per their doctor's orders.
Help us urge that Fairfax County's authoritative bodies launch an investigation into the unethical modes under which this shelter is operating. Thomas Barnett is the Deputy Director of the Fairfax County's homeless division. Please email Mr. Barnett at Thomas.Barnett@fairfaxcounty.gov. Help make a change for the better in the lives of those who are left hopeless under the inhumane regime at Embry Rucker Shelter.
