Route 29, or Lee Highway, spans from Northern Virginia to the North Carolina border, however it is only called Lee Highway in Northern Virginia. In other towns, it's name ranges from "Seminole trail", to "Richmond Highway".

Lee-Jackson Memorial Highway is named after prominent Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Confederate names should not be memorialized as they signify racist ideals of the Confederacy, and most statues/names were used to promote ideals of white supremacy and prevent rights for Black people. Continuing to have Route 29 called Lee-Jackson Memorial highway is a constant reminder of Confederate ideals of slavery and racism. Additionally, the Highway has no significant connection to Robert E. Lee nor Stonewall Jackson, thus the name bears no Historical significance. 

Arlington School Board as well as other organizations have attempted to rename Route 29 in Northern Virginia areas to no avail. This petition will be sent to representatives in Northern Virginia, as well as local school boards.
