Fair Wages for migrant Workers: Raise Minimum Wage 3$ more with regular Increases

The Issue

Undocumented workers has spent countless hours working to provide for our family. Despite years of unwavering dedication and honed skills, they continues to earn the minimum wage, with no raises to match this increasing experience. Unfortunately, they are not alone in this plight. Across the U.S, many undocumented workers face similar hardships, consistently underpaid and undervalued for their hard work and contribution.

Around 8 million undocumented workers, according to Pew Research Center, are subjected to low wages despite their integral roles in industries such as agriculture, construction and services (Pew Research Center, 2016). The current standard of pay is not reflective of the high cost of living or the skilled labor they provide.

These undocumented workers, often because of their immigration status, do not have the means to fight for better wages and fair working conditions. They might have to endure labour exploitations and face challenge in meeting basic needs. For many, these wages barely cover their living costs, let alone provide for economic security or upwards mobility.

Thus, we are calling for an increase in the minimum wage for undocumented workers to add 3$ more. This figure is more aligned with the current cost of living and the value of the work they perform. We also ask for the implementation of a system for regular pay raises, taking into account both inflation and rising living costs.

America's economy relies heavily on these workers, it is only fair that we reciprocate with justice and respect for their labor. In the spirit of fairness and human dignity, we need to ensure these workers can earn a living wage. This is not just for the community, but for an estimated 8 million others.

The Pew Research Center estimates that there are 8 million undocumented workers in the U.S, making up for about 5% of the labor force. While they form a significant part of our economy, they often receive the lowest wages and no benefits, with no potential for advancement.

This is a call for justice for workers like our families who, despite their integral role in our society, are denied the financial compensation they deserve. Fair wages benefit not only the workers and their families but also our communities and economy in general by improving living conditions and encouraging productivity.

The time is now to change our wage policies and practices to reflect justice and equity. Let’s raise the minimum wage of undocumented workers to 3$ more than the minimum wage as a basic standard, recognize their skills and experiences properly, and implement a policy for periodic raises.

Stand with us and sign this petition to advocate for fair wages for all undocumented workers. Let's demand a change that promotes respect, dignity, and equality for all workers, regardless of their immigration status. Let's demonstrate that all work has value and all workers deserve fair compensation.
