Small and local cannabis businesses are struggling to survive under the current heavy tax burden imposed by California State. Consumers are paying almost 35% taxes on every cannabis product they buy - significantly higher than the taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. Our personal journey, along with countless others, demonstrates what a high-stake challenge this is for many businesses within the industry, especially those trying to establish themselves.  

Moreover, the high tax rate creates an unbalanced competition with the illicit market - where products are significantly cheaper. By reducing the taxes on legal cannabis, we can make these products more affordable, potentially leading to a safer industry by driving consumers away from the illicit market.
