Fair Rights for the Incarcerated Stop punishing them on top of punishment

The Issue

Incarcerated individuals are being punished on top of their incarnation punishment. They are given inhumane living conditions; from not being able to purchase food, not being able to shower, no yard time or even medical attention when they take proper steps. All these and more are being taken from them causing mental health, physical health & basic hygiene to suffer.

If CDCR staff were to implement a change & allow inmates basic human rights they will dramatically see a change in inmate behavior. Personal hygiene, access to food they purchase, time with their loved ones & being medically taken care of will help their moral & mental well being. Rehabilitation is the main focus for all institutions & adding extra punishment is only adding hostility towards staff & other inmates.

A change is needed & now. There is little compassion towards those that are incarcerated but they are all human beings serving a punishment as is. Adding to that is not allowing them to better themselves, make changes or take steps to enter society. CDCR is responsible for these programs & their staff & rehabilitation should always be the goal.
