The Issue

Every day, thousands of Michigan residents deliver food and groceries through platforms like DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Instacart. These drivers provide an essential service to our communities while paying for their own gas, vehicle maintenance, insurance, and other business expenses.

Unfortunately, many drivers spend significant time waiting for orders or driving long distances without compensation that reflects the true cost of the work.

California has adopted protections that guarantee minimum earnings and mileage reimbursement for app-based drivers. Michigan drivers deserve similar protections.

We call on the Michigan Legislature to pass legislation that:

Guarantees app-based delivery drivers at least 120% of Michigan’s minimum wage for active delivery time.
Provides state-required mileage reimbursement for every active delivery mile driven.
Ensures drivers keep 100% of customer tips.
Requires weekly earnings adjustments if a driver’s base pay falls below the guaranteed minimum.
Requires complete transparency in how delivery offers and driver pay are calculated.
Provides basic occupational accident coverage for drivers injured while completing deliveries.
These protections would help hardworking Michigan residents earn fair compensation while maintaining the flexibility that makes app-based work attractive.

If you believe Michigan delivery drivers deserve fair pay, transparency, and reasonable protections, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Together, we can encourage our elected officials to create a fairer future for Michigan’s independent delivery drivers.
