Fair, non-racist, public trials in US courts

Fair, non-racist, public trials in US courts

The Issue

Military trials at Guantanamo do not meet international standards and are an affront to justice, not to mention racist, for, more of the time than not, those who are purported to be "criminal combatants", etc., are just those in the Middle Eastern country that the Police of those countries were hired to racistly oppress for the majority; so, they're rounded up in dragnets by the Police- who are then paid $ 50. a head by the US central lack of intelligence agency, etc..  Candidate Obama had strongly opposed these highly tainted trials and also Guantanamo. He even ordered Guantanamo closed one year hence on the very second day of his Presidency.  These two steps only can help restore the badly tarnished American reputation for fairness in trying and treating prisoners. Unfortunately, partisan opposition to both steps has mounted.  Open courts in the Federal system have successfully tried hundreds of terrorists with due process of law while ensuring prisoner rights. It makes sense that they should be used for detainees still held in Guantanamo.  I urge the White House to stand firm and the Congress to support trying Guantanamo detainees with due process of law in the open courts, now.
