There are many reasons as to why CORE feels that creating an ice rink for the Winter Carnival on the Green would benefit the UNW community. First, due to Covid, there has been a lack of activities, and an ice rink would create an opportunity for activity in which Covid mitigations can be followed. Community is so important to UNW, and creating an ice rink will help further community bonding as well as help boost morale. As mental health funding has been cut, this is a way in which the student body can be served in the middle of winter. 

Creating an ice rink, if done properly, will not damage the grass on the Green and keep UNW's campus looking well kept. This is also an opportunity for UNW to have promotional material as well as material for student led media such as the UNW Examiner and Eagle 7 News. Lastly, creating an ice rink will help further positive relations between facilities and the students.
