Facilitate Tiny Homes and Tiny Home Communities in Eagle County

The Issue

Our paradise in the mountains, Eagle County, is more than a place on the map. It's home, it's community, it's where we have built our memories, friendships, and dreams. But lately, these dreams seem far beyond reach for many of our hardworking citizens. The cost of housing in our area has skyrocketed to such an extent where homeownership, once an integral part of the American Dream, now feels like an illusion. Countless friends and neighbors have been forced to leave the valley, and local businesses continually lose capable workers who can't afford to live here anymore.

The problem is real, urgent, and personal. But it's not insurmountable. The solution potentially lies within the growing Tiny Homes movement. Tiny homes, being substantially more affordable than traditional houses, could enable more people to become homeowners. If we could establish tiny home communities in Eagle County, we could offer the opportunity of homeownership to many more deserving people and reduce the housing strain.

According to the American Tiny House Association, tiny homes have proven successful in combating housing crises elsewhere. Their lower costs make homeownership possible for lower-income families (Source: American Tiny House Association).

We believe that everyone deserves the chance at the American dream to own a home. By incorporating tiny homes and tiny home communities into our housing system, we could reinstate that dream for the people of Eagle County, making our community stronger and more vibrant.

We call on the Eagle County city council and local planning departments to consider allowing and facilitating the construction of tiny homes and tiny home communities. Let's keep our dreams within reach and our community intact. Please sign this petition and help us bring affordable housing back to our beloved Eagle County.
