Facebook: Reinstate Dawit Mekonen's Facebook account

Facebook has locked the vetran Oromo singer Dawit Mekonen out of his account. He was given no reason and still has no idea why this was done. Facebook unfairly terminated Dawit's personal account without warning.

As a longtime member of Facebook, his identity is not in question. He has used Facebook as a means to keep his music legacy alive and he was never put into “Facebook jail” like others for posting stuff that violated Facebook's policies.

It is likely Dawit is being targeted, like so many other Oromos, for his identity and opposition to the crisis in Ethiopia. Shutting him out of his account is an attempt to censor his voice and silence opposition to the crisis in Ethiopia and Oromia.

It is very important for DAWIT to have this account active, so he can be voice to the voiceless. 

Dawit is a man of courage and integrity, widely respected and loved by the Oromo and Ethiopians. We petition Facebook on his behalf to immediately reinstate his Facebook account.
