I am petitioning social media platforms to ban the Confederate Flag “GIF” or the use of posting a picture of The Confederate Flag on timelines or in comments. We as a country are moving forward down the path of equality, and I feel that path would be a lot smoother if corporations, which play a major part in our lives , take a stand with us and remove the use of the confederate flags on its sites. The Confederate Flag has a deep history of violence, racism and bigotry. The confederate flag is not only a sign of disrespect to our African American Citizens, but also our ancestors who sacrificed monumentally as they both built and fought for our country. Some argue the confederate flag is about southern pride, but those who have suffered at the hands of those who proudly flew that flag will never feel a sense of pride when they see that flag, instead we feel hurt, pain, anger and sadness. Having to explain to our children what this flag means, then seeing your child’s unbelief and hurt, is truly unbearable. So I ask, with a patriots heart, and moving forward attitude, that Social media companies take a step toward equality as NASCAR inc has and ban the confederate flag GIF off all social media.
