As of the recent rise in Covid 19 in our prison systems, prisoners are being held in their cells 24/7 minus a 10-20 minute shower break approximately 2-3 times a week. In studies this shows to be a negative effect on the psyche and increase suicide levels. They are also being fed cold meals and not given the right to their commencary orders. Which means while being on mandatory lockdown they are running out of batteries for their Mp3 players, their tvs, and are denied simple writing material such as paper, envelopes and stamps to keep in contact with their loved ones, and no use of phone or the opportunityto purchase extra food items or medications such as tylenol. What I am requesting at minimum is that you allow prisoners to still recieve simple commencary items so at the very least they can communicate with their loved ones and have access to medication and hygiene products. Reducing the stress on the prisoners as well as their families. This is not the proper treatment of human beings regardless of previous convictions and does not help in rehabilitation of our inmates. Please help them at minimum re-attain their commencary while awaiting our system to better review their tactics in controlling this ugly virus that has taken so many lives already. Thank you
