For many decades Latta Plantation Nature Preserve has been an equine friendly, County operated park. As of 2017 there have been no horses available for the general public to enjoy. Horse back trail rides, pony rides, or being able to visit have all been taken away.

We are asking Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation as they have done in the past decades, to lease the horse barn area out to a suitable operator, and bring public horse back riding back into the park. Country Time Equestrian Events has the business knowledge of operating a successful equine trail ride facility.

Why take something away that benefits many thousands of park patrons. Latta was designed for equine usage, at its begining by the Latta and Sample families. Many years ago in America when our four fathers began our park systems, each park was laid out for an intended use. One of Latta Plantation's intended designs for the land was to be utilized by horses past and future.
