Facebook does nothing about the romance scammers that are now plaguing the web site. When the scammers (posing as military personnel most of the time) are reported, facebook is very lax to delete these scammers who leech off of victims.

Facebook does nothing about the romance scammers that are now plaguing the web site. When the scammers (posing as military personnel most of the time) are reported, facebook is very lax to delete these scammers who leech off of victims.
The Issue
Huffingtonpost.com reports that the Internet Crime Complaint Center received 314,246 complaints; 5,600 complaints related to romance scams in 2011. Huffingtonpost reports also that, "...$50 million price tag is the result of victims losing an average of $8,900 each". Facebook not only does little to nothing against the scammers, but now they have decided to place a money payment option via messages---where the scammers do their worst damage. Facebook is quick to tell folks to block the scammers, which is wise, but the scammers NEED TO BE DELETED from the web site. It is 2015, and the scams have gotten worse. Groups such as Military Romance Scams and Military Romance Scam Busters does a great job at exposing the scammers, but it is Facebook that needs to the most work.
