The issue

I am deeply concerned about the approach the Commonwealth Government has taken in forming the current Royal Commission. It is evident that the scope, as it stands, is far too narrow to yield insightful and comprehensive results. Given the limited perspectives being called upon in the current setup, I fear we are heading towards a skewed and ineffective inquiry - one that is both a disservice to the public and a waste of resources.

The issue at hand affects us all. Without a balanced and thorough investigation, we risk allowing divisive rhetoric to continue unchallenged. That's why it's imperative to call upon the Prime Minister, other pertinent ministers, and representatives from across the spectrum, including those who may hold contrary views yet remain crucial to the conversation, such as individuals identified as Muslim hate preachers. This diversity of voices is essential to ensure that all angles of this issue are thoroughly examined.

Statistics and past commissions show that a holistic approach yields the most constructive outcomes. For instance, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse was praised for its inclusivity and depth. By ignoring lessons from past successes and failing to learn from them, we are missing an invaluable opportunity to unite as a community while honestly addressing the deep-rooted issues of polarization and misunderstanding.

Extending and broadening the inquiry will not only provide a broader understanding of the challenges we face but will firmly establish trust in our government institutions. We need an action plan that genuinely reflects our diversity and unites our nation against prejudice and hatred. Let's demand a Royal Commission that is inclusive and accountable, ensuring that no voice is left unheard and no stone unturned.

Please join me in urging the government to commit to a comprehensive and equitable inquiry. Sign this petition to advocate for an extended Royal Commission that serves us all.
