The Issue

The Connections shuttle bus service has been a lifeline for many of us in the Statesboro, GA community, particularly for college students residing in the complex. Many of us rely on this service because we do not own vehicles, and the campus we need to reach is not easily accessible due to the lack of sidewalks. This makes the shuttle service more than a convenience; it is a necessity. Currently, the bus operates from 7:35 AM until 4:45 PM, which leaves a gap for students who have classes or commitments that extend beyond these hours.

Extending the shuttle service until 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, would significantly alleviate the transportation challenges faced by many students. As it stands, students with late-afternoon classes or extracurricular activities struggle to make it back home safely and efficiently. This extension would not only benefit students who attend evening classes but also those involved in internships, part-time jobs, or study groups that run later into the day.

Moreover, walking is unsafe because of the absence of sidewalks; extending the hours of the Connections shuttle is a reasonable and necessary step. It would increase accessibility and assist in reducing stress and logistical hurdles for students who are already juggling numerous responsibilities.

We believe that by making a small adjustment to the shuttle timetable, we can profoundly impact the day-to-day lives of many students. This would be a powerful way to show support and acknowledgment of the student community in Statesboro, highlighting our commitment to ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to education and personal development without needless obstacles.

Please sign this petition to urge the local authorities and shuttle service management to extend The Connections bus service hours until 6:30 PM. This change will greatly assist those of us who depend on this critical means of transportation, allowing us to pursue our academic goals and daily activities with greater ease and safety.
