I am a pensioner with several disabled friends, and some days, getting to a physical store is simply out of the question for us. This exclusion feels like discrimination against those who are disabled, elderly, or otherwise unable to shop in-store—they deserve equal access to these benefits.
Extending the club card plus benefits to online shopping would make a world of difference for many. It isn't just a matter of convenience, but a question of fairness and inclusion for those who face significant barriers in reaching physical stores. According to national statistics, there are over 11 million people with disabilities in the UK alone, and a significant percentage of the population are elderly. Many of these individuals rely on online shopping for their primary sources of groceries and household items.
Furthermore, numerous studies highlight that online shopping is not just a preference but a necessity for these groups, especially in a digital age and amidst unpredictable challenges like health pandemics.
