This petition comes from a very personal place. Within the town of Winder, GA, we, as residents, students, and parents are pleading for the extension of the back-to-school date in our Barrow County Schools. Our community has been heavily effected, leaving us yearning for time to mentally recover. The thought of going back to school amidst an outburst of online violence and threats without substantial safety measures in place, gives us grave fear and concern. We humbly demand a delay in the reopening date for schools and demand a transparent plan for more robust safety measures to be implemented.
