Extend School Recess to 20 Minutes from the Current 10 Minutes

The Issue

As students, we understand the importance of having a full stomach and enough rest to move on to our next subject. We often feel tired or sleepy after lunch due to the short recess period. This not only affects our concentration but also our overall performance in school. It is for this reason that we are advocating for an extension of the recess period from 10 minutes to 20 minutes.

Research shows that longer breaks during school hours can improve students' cognitive performance (American Academy of Pediatrics). A study by Stanford University found that students who had more than one break during their school day performed better academically than those who had only one break.

By extending our recess time, we will have more time to eat and rest, thus improving our readiness for subsequent classes. This will not only benefit us as individuals but also contribute positively towards improving academic performance in schools nationwide.

We urge you all, fellow students, parents, teachers and administrators alike, to support this petition and help us make a change for better learning conditions in schools across the country. Please sign this petition today!
