Extend Permit Parking for Residents in Tuexdo Parkway Newark, NJ

The Issue

Living in our tight-knit Newark, NJ neighborhood comes with its distinct charm, but lately, one issue has been hindering our daily lives—limited parking availability due to an influx of non-residents leaving their cars in our area for extended periods. This situation is not only inconvenient but contributes to increased risks of car thefts and break-ins, making our neighborhood feel less safe.

To address this challenge, we're proposing the introduction of a residential permit parking system. This system would provide each household with 2-3 vehicle permits, allowing residents to park close to their homes without facing unnecessary hurdles. In addition, we propose issuing two visitor parking passes per household annually. These passes are designed for overnight visits and can be used for up to one week per stay, ensuring that friends and family can visit without adding to street congestion.

The cost for maintaining this system would be minimal—$10 per permit and $10 per visitor pass per year. This fee would support the administrative costs and any necessary signage for clear communication of parking rules.

Implementing this plan will not only make parking more manageable for residents but also contribute to a safer environment by reducing the likelihood of car thefts and break-ins. Furthermore, it will restore the peace and safety we cherish in our neighborhood and make our community more cohesive.

Join us in urging local authorities to review and endorse this proposal for permit parking in Newark, NJ. Sign this petition and help us take the first step towards reclaiming our streets and ensuring they remain a comfortable and secure space for everyone who calls this neighborhood home. Every signature counts. Let's make a positive change together.
