Extend Off-Leash Dog Area Hours at Eagle Park in Mountain View

Extend Off-Leash Dog Area Hours at Eagle Park in Mountain View
The Issue
As a resident of Mountain View, CA, and a proud dog owner, I hold a shared fondness for our daily walks to Eagle Park. This is a place our four-legged family members find joy and freedom in the designated off-leash area. This area is unique, being the only one within walking distance of Castro Street, downtown Mountain View, and is a cherished spot among local dog owners.
However, the limited timing is curtailing the happiness of our pets and causing inconvenience to the owners. This confined window of activity, from 8am to 10am, excludes many users who cannot cater to this time bracket due to their working hours or other commitments. The sudden enforcement of this limited window, robs Mountain View dog owners from the only walkable off-leash dog area in the city.
With the considerable size of the dog-owner community in Mountain View, and the city's responsibility to equitable and inclusive park access, it is evident we need more flexible hours for the off-leash dog area at Eagle Park. Therefore, we propose that the city council extend the off-leash hours to match the operating hours of the park itself.
Moreover, the absence of appropriate signage marking the off-leash area often leads to confusion among the park's users. We seek the installation of noticeable signs for better clarity and to avoid any potential issues.
Let's garner support to enhance our cherished park, making it more accommodating for both our pets and fellow residents alike. It's time we make Eagle Park a friendlier place for everyone, especially our four-legged friends. Sign this petition, let's make our voices heard, and ensure a happier and healthier life for our dogs.
