Extend McKee Park Pickleball Court Hours in Starkville, MS
Extend McKee Park Pickleball Court Hours in Starkville, MS
The Issue
Pickleball has become a cherished part of my life, offering not only physical exercise but also a great way to unwind and bond with friends. Living in Starkville, MS, I've found McKee Park to be an ideal spot for community members like myself to enjoy the game. However, current operating hours of the pickleball courts make it nearly impossible for people with busy schedules, like students and professionals, to play during the cooler, late evening hours.
I personally face a challenge where school occupies most of my day, and my friends, who share my passion for pickleball, are similarly tied up with their jobs. Our only opportunity to gather, relieve stress, and enjoy our favorite sport is after school and work hours, but the early closing times of McKee Park pickleball courts prevent us from doing so.
Extending the operating hours of these courts would not only benefit us but also many other residents of Starkville who love to stay active and social through pickleball. It serves as a valuable outlet for the community's physical and mental well-being.
The sport is growing rapidly across the country, and more playing time could foster a stronger sense of community, encourage healthy lifestyles, and even attract new players to the sport. This would align with many city initiatives aimed at enhancing community wellness and activity levels.
I urge the city of Starkville to consider keeping McKee Park pickleball courts open later in the evenings. This adjustment can significantly contribute to the enjoyment and convenience of many residents who look forward to their leisure time after a hard day's work or study.
Let's make Starkville a city that supports all its residents' needs by providing fair recreational access for everyone. Please sign this petition to show your support for extended evening hours at McKee Park's pickleball courts to accommodate all players.
