RCC should provide equitable access to campus resources for students and faculty whose schedules include late classes. Many of us choose RCC for its vibrant campus and diverse academic programs, but those of us attending evening classes often face challenges that our daytime peers do not.

• Imagine being on campus until the late hours, only to find that the library is closed, and the only dining option requires a lengthy trip off-campus. This is the reality for many evening students who struggle to find quiet and safe spaces to study or to grab a meal between their classes. Not only is this inconvenient, but it can also lead to diminished academic performance, as students lack the proper environment and sustenance to focus and excel.
• Other institutions have successfully piloted extended hours and late-night dining services to overwhelming demand. For instance, studies at colleges with late-night options show increased student satisfaction and performance by providing the necessary resources for those studying around the clock. By keeping RCC open later, we can replicate these successes and significantly enhance the student experience for evening attendees.
• Moreover, extending the hours for study spaces and dining options will alleviate the financial and time burdens of having to travel off-campus for essentials, making higher education more accessible and equitable for all students.
