Extend City Water Supply to Homes Along Highway 130

The Issue

I am a resident of Laramie, Wyoming, and like many others living along Highway 130, I face the daily inconvenience and potential danger of hauling water to my home. This task is not only time-consuming but also hazardous during icy conditions. The current solution - using cisterns - poses its own risks as they can harbor bacteria and compromise our health.

In the United States, access to clean water is considered a basic human right. Yet dozens of homes in our community are deprived of this essential service. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are serious health risks associated with consuming untreated or poorly treated water, including gastrointestinal illness, reproductive problems, and neurological disorders.

The city's water supply needs to be extended beyond its current limits down Highway 130. This would not only alleviate the burden on families who currently haul their own water but also ensure that all residents have access to safe drinking water directly from their taps.

We urge the local government in Laramie and relevant authorities to take immediate action on this matter for the betterment of our community's health and quality of life. Please sign this petition if you believe in equal access to clean drinking water for all residents along Highway 130.
