Giving voice to a personal ordeal: I have witnessed the horrifying conditions cats and kittens are subjected to at kitten farms. My rescued cats, survivors of these conditions, are a mere two among the 72 kittens rescued by RSPCA and Cats Protection from such this farm. Conditions were unimaginable — floors were covered in solid faeces and bodies of deceased kittens were strewn about. The person responsible had run this farm for over 50 years before receiving only a suspended sentence. 

This is a poignant reflection of a larger issue. While the last government did not prioritize this matter, we now have a chance to push this under a new parliament. We must extend animal welfare laws to cover kittens and cats, thus bringing about a more comprehensive legislation that doesn't selectively ignore these innocent creatures who suffer greatly at the hands of irresponsible breeders and negligent owners.

By extending these laws, we can aim for a future where all animals, including kittens and cats, are treated with the care and respect they deserve rather than being abused in the name of profit. Take a stand and compel our government to include kittens and cats in animal welfare laws.
