Expose the Cruelty. Stop Misleading Consumers. Make Park Farm Accountable!
The Issue
After a long day's work, my friends and I went to a fast-food chain, specifically KFC, to treat ourselves. Already knowing KFC's "Behind the Bucket Commitment to Better Chicken Welfare", we know that these chickens are raised 'cage-free and in a 'humane environment'; having better living conditions compared to other farms -- or so we thought.
It turned out that these were all misleading; therefore we are asking Park Farm, one of KFC's major chicken distributors, to take accountability and stop misleading the people into thinking that these chickens are born and raised in good living environments.
Until Park Farm can prove otherwise and implement real welfare changes for these animals, it needs to shut down and immediately come clean to the public about the truth of the living conditions and how these animals are treated.
The fact that these chickens are raised in 'cage-free environments is beside the point. This is confused with the egg industry. And despite that, these chickens live all their lives on these factory farms with no access to the outdoor, sunlight, or even fresh air.
Having approximately 52,000 chickens in an extremely tight space is not exactly a definition of a humane environment as these chickens live in an area full of their own urine and feces that not only kills these birds but also makes them suffer helplessly.
"We're very proud of our animal welfare here"
A phrase echoed by Tony, a farm manager of Park Farm, while approximately 2,500 lifeless chickens are cramped up in red buckets to be thrown away in an interval of 35 days. Is that something we should just accept?
Park farm, a chicken farm based near Lincoln, is considered as one of the best. Imagine what the other farms our like. How much suffering goes in there. How much death that lingers within its confines.
As time goes by, intensive chicken farming is getting worse.
Enough is enough.
Sign our petition and join us in this mission in demanding accountability and a commitment from Park Farm to stop misleading the public about how they do their business and to move away from intensive factory farming of chickens like these and work on a better, inclusive, and more sustainable approach.
