The Issue
As a concerned American citizen, I am deeply affected by the potential implications of Project 2025. I am raising my voice to shed light on this extremist plan. This project, devised by religious, right-wing figures, threatens to dismantle American democracy as we know it if Donald Trump or any extremist Republican candidate wins the 2024 presidential election. The consequences of this diabolical plan will be far-reaching and devastating, particularly for marginalized communities like the LGBTQ+ community.
Project 2025 is an extremist far-right playbook that includes a 900+ page document called "Mandate for Leadership", written and planed for over 40 years by The Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, The American Legislative Exchange Council and every powerful, Christian nationalist think-tank organizations, with the ultimate goal to move America towards authoritarianism under the guise of "reshaping the executive branch of the U.S. federal government", similar to the German dictator Adolf Hitler's playbook 'Mein Kampf'.
This egregious master plan aims to move us back 50 years by eliminating all of our progressive, fundamental freedoms that we as Americans have fought so hard to win for the past many years such as abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and our right to vote. These restrictions would disproportionately affect vulnerable populations such as women and young people who rely heavily on these rights for their well-being. Moreover, this project poses an imminent threat to our future generations. It seeks to establish an autocratic regime that undermines democratic values which are integral in shaping a just society where everyone has equal opportunities.

1.Federally criminalize the LGBTQ+ community: The extremists are making the eradication of queer and trans people from public life their top priority. Their number one promise is to "restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect the children". Basically what they mean is that they're aiming to dismantle every LGBTQ+ civil rights and anti-discrimination laws like The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and federally outlaw marriage equality, same-sex activities and LGBTQ+ parental rights in adoption.
They want to label LGBTQ+ people and drag queens as "child predators" and everything that involves being LGBTQ+, from library books like "My Shadow Is Pink", to online websites like The Trevor Project, as 'pornographic', no matter the theme. Anyone expresses about being gay, transgender or non-binary, especially in front of a minor, let alone support any minor in school who is LGBTQ, will be at risk of imprisonment and classified as "registered sex-offenders", punishable by the death penalty. This especially puts LGBTQ+ parents in danger of being arrested and have their children taken away from them.
They want to federally ban gender-affirming care for transgender people and criminalize any healthcare provider and counselors for providing affirming therapy to transgender children, while calling for conversion therapy programs to be the only available treatment, which we all know that conversion therapy is nothing but abusive and has never helped anyone who is LGBTQ. Their plans are definitely gonna cause the suicide rate to skyrocket.
And it gets worse. They made it clear that they want to censor the internet of LGBTQ+ websites and apps, as well as terminating social media content for displaying LGBTQ+ posts. Companies that allows any positive depiction of queer and transgender people would be considered 'adult explicit material' and 'contributing to harming a minor', therefore they will be threatened of being shut down if they don't remove any LGBTQ+ videos or fanfiction stories. They also gonna force Big Tech companies to allow them to spew online hate speech and misinformation to dehumanize the LGBTQ+ community without any punishment from the FBI and Department of Justice.
Lastly, they are calling for the executive branch to use the Department of Justice to threaten the prosecution of local and state officials if they refuse to charge LGBTQ+ people and their supporters with crimes breaking their new anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

Wade overturned by our nation's top court last year, red states are passing laws to restrict women of their rights of getting an abortion, but that's not enough for the Republicans. They don't believe that abortion is healthcare and they want all 50 U.S. states to criminalize women for receiving abortion.
They want to defund Planned Parenthood from Medicaid and any U.S. state will be deprived of it for abortion. They also want to ban any companies that provide abortion healthcare. They want the Department of Health (including the U.S. government) to announce on day 1 that they are "pro-life". States like South Carolina have passed a law that makes abortion punishable by the death penalty, and undoubtedly, the extremists want that to be federally legalized.
The new Republican administration would also seek to strip abortion services and contraception from health plans. This is gonna lead many women to have dangerous, unsafe abortions, especially from people who are completely unlicensed.
3. Mass firing of work experts: More than 30,000 Americans today are part of the federal civilian workforce. From scientists at scientific agencies, to doctors at the FDA accountants at the IRS, we want them work in this country as expertise. But if Project 2025 gets enacted, more than a million experts will be fired and replaced with extremist loyalists and insurrectionists who are willing to do everything a Republican president wanted and use the power of agencies to fundamentally change the nature of America, without the involvement of Congress. Anyone who disagrees with anything the president wants will have their jobs revoked.
4. Weaponizing law enforcement controlling the military: Law enforcement will answerable only to the Republican president. Even if you live in a Democratic-controlled state, they have a plan for that. P. 553 lays out how Trump's Justice Department will take over local law enforcement if they personally don't like with how your own elected officials are running things. They will prosecute any district attorneys that they don't agree with, especially if they stand on women, gun control, and LGBTQ+ rights. The plan will also strip the FBI director of their independence, making them a lackey of the Republican president.
And for the military, their plan is to reduce the number of military generals, so power is more fully consolidated with the commander in chief. They will also use the military to intimidate and suppress public protest against the president.

Mass deportation of immigrants: A central focus of the new police state would be a Republican president's goal of undertaking, in Trump's words, "the largest domestic deportation operation in American history". Immigration enforcement is to be conducted like a war, with the military deployed within the U.S. and millions of immigrants (and Muslims) rounded up and thrown into newly constructed mass holding camps, no matter if they have legal citizenship.

Mixing religion with the government: We all know the right-wing extremists want to strike down the wall that separates church and state and force their conservative, Christian views on every aspect of American life, most particularly in schools. We believe that everybody has the right to follow their religion, but we also believe that forcing it onto others is wrong and that religion needs to remain out of reach from the government.
They want schools to replace every well-trained counselors with unlicensed Christian chaplains, as well as replacing anything that involves science with Christian teachings they want to use to force children into believing that they should only follow Christian values, no matter if they're from a different religion or want no part of it. They're gonna teach students into believing that they should only be heterosexual and make them hate themselves for being in love with someone of the same-sex.
They're calling out for religious protections and institutions for places that identify as "faith-based" so that they can have their right to bully and discriminate anyone who is LGBTQ protected. They also want states to have control of our accreditation status for religious and faith-based institutions, and for people who own faith-based businesses, they will have the right to discriminate anyone they don't religiously agree with without any damage to their reputation.
They want to extend protections for faith-based institutions, school programs and activities when a member is accused by a victim of sexual assault and it will allow them to influence the outcome. This is definitely bad news for SA victims.

Prevent any action against climate change: The earth right now is already sick, and the Republicans' extremist plans of overturning every U.S. climate change laws such as the Inflation Reduction Act and green energy initiative will have dire consequences for the environment and future generations. They don't believe in climate change and that it's all 'a hoax'.

Suppress our right to vote: If any Republican candidate who wants to strip minorities and young people of their right to vote, whether it be Trump or DeSantis... if any one of them gets into the White House, it's clear that they're never gonna leave, and we won't have another fair election and vote for a progressive candidate in 2028, 2032, or other future years. They want to extend the power of the Republican president, as well as stripping the power from Congress and make sure that they will stay in power forever.
9. Outlaw divorce and single parents: Under Project 2025, any single parent or a divorcee who have children will be punished and have their custody of their kids striped from them. In the extremists' eyes, it doesn't matter if a person's marriage is toxic or not and that they're gonna have to deal with their abusive spouse in order to keep their children within their custody.
They believe that child support should only promote heterosexual marriage between two biological parents, regardless if they love each other or not. As for foster children, they don't want foster homes to give children to single parents or LGBTQ parents. Only heterosexual married parents, especially if they're hardcore Christians.
10. Restrict free lunch access: They want to remove any UN association in America that promotes food production, repeal all dietitian guideline laws and dismantle all laws that require food production companies to enable their products. They're planning to reduce free lunch programs and terminate any possibility of universal free lunch program.
11. Roll back student loan forgiveness: They want to reverse all student loan forgiveness programs because they want tax payers like investors. They beleive that even though a college student doesn't have a job to pay for their student loan bills, they should pay it no matter what and not get a discount on it, let alone a lower payment.

Make no mistake; the extremists want to install this dangerous project in the first 180 days of a Republican presidency. Yes it will be challenged and sent to the U.S. Supreme Court, but unfortunately, it has a conservative majority. The urgency of this issue cannot be overstated. We must act now before it's too late.
