Samuel Douglass is a stain on the Northeast Kingdom and all constituencies in Vermont. His racist, disgusting beliefs have been displayed for all of us to see through statements and actions that cannot be overlooked. Douglass cannot be trusted to be an honest and ethical representative of his diverse constituency.

This is a man who supports other racists and would go to such extremes as sending opponents and those who don’t align with his views to gas chambers. Such abhorrent views and potential actions are simply unacceptable and dangerous, not only to Vermont but to the principles of democracy that our nation holds dear.

In a state renowned for its diversity and inclusive values, we cannot allow someone with such a harmful ideology to remain in a position of power. Vermont deserves leaders who embody fairness, respect, and equality—principles that Samuel Douglass blatantly disregards.

If Samuel Douglass refuses to step down voluntarily, then it is imperative that the Vermont Legislature acts decisively to expel him.
