Expedite the Legal Status and Pardon Process for Undocumented Spouses of US Citizens

The Issue

My husband, an undocumented immigrant, is currently awaiting his I-601, the waiver of inadmissibility that would allow him to pursue legal status as a spouse of a US citizen. But the process is slow, tangled in bureaucracy, and fraught with anxieties. Like many families, we spend endless nights worrying about when or if he will be granted this pardon. There are tens of thousands of families similarly stranded in this purgatory, with the backlogged US Citizenship and Immigration Services adjudicating over 1 Million Immigration Benefit Requests per year. Our mixed immigration status families should not have to endure such gut-wrenching uncertainty.

I'm asking you to support a change in policy that would expedite the legal status acquisition and pardon approval process for undocumented spouses of US Citizens. Clear these backlogged cases more quickly and allow our families to live free of the constant fear of forced separation - a fear that affects an estimated 17 million people living in mixed-status families in the U.S.

It's time we redefine our immigration process to value and uphold the integrity of mixed-status families. Stand with us in pushing for a faster, more compassionate process. Please sign this petition and raise your voices for families like mine that makeup the fabric of our society.
