I am a STEM student at North Central Texas College (NCTC) in Corinth, Texas, USA. My studies demand equipment not provided by the school, and I find myself, and my classmates, stuck in a cycle of financial distress due to the gap between NCTC receiving federal funds and their distribution to students.

Our predicament is not unique; students throughout our institution are affected as a lack of financial access can impede their educational progress. Delay in funds cripples our ability to purchase necessary study materials, equipment, and even meet basic needs, which in turn adversely affects our academic performance. This situation creates unnecessary barriers to student success.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, quicker disbursement of financial aid can significantly aid educational attainment, particularly among Pell-eligible students[1]. We, therefore, seek informed clarity from NCTC administrators regarding the timeline of fund dispersal.

It is urgent that NCTC address this issue. We call for an expedited process of federal fund distribution to the students and a clear outline of the process from the school administration. This will not only aid students in their academic pursuits but uphold NCTC's commitment to providing an accessible education.
