Many individuals, like my husband, who have attended interviews at the USA embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, have been caught in a bureaucratic quagmire. Despite having completed his interview in October 2022, my husband has been in administrative process limbo for over two years. Efforts to reach out to the embassy have been met with silence, as there has been no response to our emails or calls. This situation is far from unique. The administrative backlog has become a major issue at US Embassies worldwide, drastically affecting the lives of applicants and their families. According to the Alliance of Business Immigration Lawyers, there has been a significant increase in visa processing times at US Embassies and Consulates worldwide over the past few years. This protracted processing time not only puts undue strain on applicants and their families, but it also compromises the credibility of the US immigration system. We are, therefore, requesting the expedited resolution of these administrative processes and calling for increased transparency and communication from the US Embassy in Nairobi.
