Expand the Public Safety Pistol Licensing unit for Faster Service

The Issue

I am a law-abiding citizen in Westchester County NY, who has  to wait over a year just to get fingerprinted and have a one-on-one interaction with a judge in order to exercise my civil right. This delay is unnecessary and avoidable, especially considering that obtaining a passport, registering a LLC, acquiring a marriage license, and securing a building permit all happen faster in our county.

We must engage with our local government and call for the expansion of the size of the Public Safety Pistol Licensing unit. This reform would expedite the processing of pistol permits and other legal proceedings, reducing the length of time citizens like myself are required to wait. Any decrease in these waiting times is a positive step toward efficient governance and an affirmation of our rights as citizens.

The frustration I feel is shared by many others in our community. It's not just about the delay; it's about the fact that our basic civil rights are being treated as less important than administrative tasks. By increasing the size of the Public Safety Pistol License Unit, Westchester can demonstrate its commitment to prioritizing the rights and services that matter most to its citizens.

Put pressure on the Westchester county government to make this essential change and ensure that our rights are respected. Please sign this petition urging our elected officials to increase the resources allocated to these crucial departments.
