Expand the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act to All U.S Citizens

Expand the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act to All U.S Citizens
The Issue
As someone who lives on the border of Arkansas, I work, pay taxes, and substantially contribute to the local economy. Despite these investments, I am deprived of the same rights as Arkansas citizens. While I am subject to the governance and its decisions, I am denied the resources to hold the government accountable.
The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act is currently available only to Arkansas residents, a practice that I believe violates civil rights. As a neighboring citizen, I cannot influence hiring decisions, nor can I request public information unless put through a local—and often unavailable—intermediary.
Within this Act, comes the provision that one must present a government ID to obtain access. This is another vexing obstacle for non-residents like myself. This petition seeks to overhaul these exclusionary practices and push for transparency, fairness, and inclusivity.
The Freedom of Information Act exists to hold the government accountable and to maintain public trust (2020 Report from the Freedom of Information Act Advisory Committee). It is crucial for all citizens who contribute to and are impacted by the governance of Arkansas to have access to these resources.
By signing this petition, you are making a stand for equality, transparency, and the right of every citizen to access information. Please, I implore you, sign this petition and support the expansion of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act to all U.S citizens.
