I, like many lifetime Maryland hunters, struggle to find time for deer hunting. My comrades and I in Anne Arundel County face a unique challenge in this regard as we are among the few communities deprived of the privilege to hunt on Sundays. This restriction not only limits our hunting pursuits but also shrinks precious opportunities for family bonding with my grandsons.

This isn’t only a personal sentimental matter. With around 227,000 deer in Maryland as of 2020 (Maryland Department of Natural Resources), regulated hunting serves to manage deer populations, contributing to ecological balance and reducing deer-vehicle collisions. However, Anne Arundel County’s restriction prevents us from fully participating in this critical role and enjoying our time-honored tradition.
