Every day, countless students—myself included—face a significant challenge: simply getting to the KPU Richmond campus on time. As a student, I (Jean Pierre Bizimana) have personally experienced the stress of unreliable transportation. I’ve also seen classmates, especially those without cars, struggle with late arrivals, missed classes, and the anxiety this creates. The current limited shuttle service often leaves us stranded, and many students are forced to rely on overcrowded buses like the 301, unpredictable transit connections, or expensive alternatives that drain already tight budgets.

This isn’t just about being late. The lack of reliable transportation affects our ability to focus in class, perform academically, and manage the pressures of daily life. It hits hardest for international students, part-time workers, and students with family responsibilities—those who are already balancing so much. Instead of being able to dedicate our energy to learning, we’re left worrying about how we’ll even get to campus.

Expanding the shuttle bus service at KPU Richmond would make a world of difference. More frequent buses would reduce waiting times, ease stress, and help students arrive safely and on time. It’s a simple but meaningful change that would improve our daily routines and make education more accessible for everyone.

To strengthen this effort, we need to show KPU the data. A survey or petition with hundreds of student voices will make it clear that this is not a minor issue—it’s a major barrier to student success.
