The Issue

This message is being written by a passionate advocator for ocean conservation in the heart of the landlocked DFW area in Texas. I believe fervently in the restoration and protection of the marine ecosystem, and carry a deep concern for the lack of accessible marine rehabilitation centers in my area. Our actions have a greater impact on ocean life than many of us realize, and being distant from the coast does not lesson our responsibility.

Statistically, over 50% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by marine life, emphasizing their vital importance in maintaining our planet's balance (source: National Ocean Service). Yet, many individuals in DFW and similar inland areas, isolated from coasts, often miss the opportunity to connect with marine life in a meaningful way. Rehabilitation centers offer a unique chance to educate the population about these essential creatures while also providing help to injured and endangered marine animals.

Let us envision a DFW enriched with dedicated facilities wherein injured marine life can be rehabilitated, allowing people to see the direct impact they can have on the health of our oceans. Such centers can create a bridge of understanding and empathy, and can provide a platform to contribute directly to the healing of our oceans, even from the heart of Texas.

This is a plea for the expansion of marine rehabilitation centers in DFW. We need the community's support to bring this dream into reality. Please sign this petition and help make a difference in safeguarding our marine life and deepening our connection to the natural world.
