Expand Major League Baseball's Presence in Australia

Expand Major League Baseball's Presence in Australia
The Issue
There is a vast potential for the further growth and development of baseball all over Australia. However, to truly ignite interest and foster a robust domestic baseball culture Australians need exposure to the highest level of play - Major League Baseball (MLB).
March 22-23, 2014, Dodgers vs. D-backs at the Sydney Cricket Ground was the last MLB appearance in Australia. The first reports of organised teams and results appeared in Ballarat, Victoria, in 1857. A record crowd of 104,400, watched an exhibition game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the 1956 Summer Olympics.
Baseball is played in all the mainland states and territories, but it struggles for popularity due to the popularity of many other sports, including the comparable sport of cricket, in which Australia has always been one of the leading nations.
This petition proposes an innovative idea to ignite interest in baseball: Have six MLB teams play against each other in Australia at the same time. Two teams would compete against each other in three separate games, then rotate opponents and move to different cities. This format would not only bring world-class baseball action closer to Australian fans but also stimulate local interest throughout the country.
Australia has a rich sporting history with over 60% of adults participating in sports activities (Australian Bureau of Statistics). Yet, baseball remains underrepresented despite its potential for popularity. By bringing more MLB games here, Australians can tap into this latent passion and grow the Australian Baseball League (ABL) and develop strong local leagues.
MLB has previously demonstrated success with international games such as those regularly held in Mexico, Japan, Korea, and London, which saw increased interest in baseball within these regions (MLB.com). Similar results can be achieved in Australia!
This petition calls upon Major League Baseball to seriously consider this proposal. Let's give Australian fans an opportunity to witness top-tier baseball on their home turf while promoting growth for the sport across the country. Please sign this petition if you support expanding MLB's presence Down Under!
