The Issue

This year, I, along with many other students at Penn Foster online school, felt deeply wronged by the decision to combine college and high school graduation ceremonies into a single event. This move, justified as a cost-saving measure, has left many of us disappointed and underserved, especially considering the significant financial investment we make towards our education.

The injustice lies in the fact that we pay $1,600 at the outset just to enroll in the program. Part of this cost ostensibly covers the graduation ceremony—an event intended to recognize our hard work and achievement. However, by compressing these separate milestones into one ceremony, Penn Foster not only undermines the unique accomplishments of college and high school graduates but also denies many students the chance to participate and walk the stage—a moment that should rightfully belong to all.

Given that the chosen venue has a capacity of 13,000, it is feasible for Penn Foster to extend the ceremonies over the course of 2-3 days. This approach would ensure that every student who has worked diligently towards their diploma or degree can receive the recognition they deserve. The satisfaction of fully experiencing a graduation ceremony is an integral part of our academic journey, one that we've rightfully earned.

We call upon Penn Foster to reconsider and expand the graduation ceremonies to accommodate all students. Let us have the opportunity to celebrate our achievements. The money we've invested into our education and its subsequent culmination should reflect the value we place on our academic and personal growth.

Please join us in this cause. Sign this petition to urge Penn Foster to expand their graduation ceremonies, ensuring fairness and appreciation for all students involved.
