Expand Driveways and Maintain Altered Gardens for Greater Safety and Accessibility

The Issue

I live in Redmill Drive, where the struggle to find parking off the road has become a daily challenge. For those of us who've transformed our front gardens into driveways, this problem is partly alleviated. However, concerns persist over future plans to return these gardens back to grass, which would only exacerbate the issue. Pedestrian safety stands compromised as roads become congested and footpaths are often blocked.

According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, footway parking can force pedestrians, including those with prams or wheelchairs, into the road, into the path of vehicles (RoSPA, 2021). Moreover, frustrating navigation in such congested areas can lead to driving errors.

We request that drives be permitted to expand and the alterations we've made to our gardens be recognised, fostering a safer pedestrian environment. A collaborative effort between the residents and the responsible company could ensure their maintenance and improvement, respecting our community's hard work in crafting these spaces.

We urge residents and officials of Redmill Drive and surrounding roads alike to rally behind this cause, making our estate safer for both pedestrians and drivers, while acknowledging our individual efforts to accommodate our vehicles. Sign the petition to support expanded driveways and the preservation of altered gardens.
