We are advocating for the expansion of Detroit's bus lines to include routes that reach up M-24 to at least Lapeer. This expansion is beneficial to all communities involved for several reasons:

• Enhanced Employment Opportunities: By connecting Lapeer to Detroit, we enable residents to access a wider range of job opportunities in the city, helping to reduce unemployment and support economic growth.

• Improved Access to Education: Students in Lapeer would have better access to Detroit’s universities, colleges, and vocational schools, making education more attainable and fostering a more educated workforce.

• Healthcare Accessibility: Reliable public transit would ensure that residents can reach medical appointments and healthcare facilities in Detroit, leading to better health outcomes.

• Environmental Impact: Public transit expansion can help reduce traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions, contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

• Increasing Traffic to Smaller Buisnesses: Increased traffic and attention to smaller towns and cities up M-24 would bolster local stores, shops, and events! As a resident of Lapeer, I know we have a lot to offer! For instance, our courthouse is one of the top 10 oldest in America, and an historical landmark! As well as, we hold the largest free festival in Michigan, Lapeer Days! We have a lot to offer, so let's share!

• Promote Community Connection and Recreation: Reliable transportation between Lapeer and Detroit would give residents more opportunities to enjoy social, recreational, and cultural experiences. This would include easier access to music venues, sporting events, new cuisean, museums, festivals, and the Metro Airport.
