Our community is growing, and so are the activities that our youth and families engage in, but the public skatepark at Fairgrounds Park in Troy, MO has not kept pace. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about their children running into each other . It's not just because the area feels cramped and overcrowded, but because the safety of our children is compromised by outdated and damaged equipment.

Currently, the skatepark is too small and simply cannot accommodate the increasing number of skaters, bikers, scooter riders and rollerblading who flock to it. This surge in popularity speaks volumes about the vibrant community spirit and the passion for outdoor activities here in Troy. However, without immediate intervention, our beloved skatepark risks becoming a place of missed opportunities and potential accidents rather than a cornerstone of community recreation.

The current state of the park is worrisome. Skateboards and bikes zoom by with little regard for personal space, a clear sign of the overcrowding issue. Damaged ramps and unmaintained surfaces add to the risk of injury—not to mention the outdated features that fail to challenge more advanced users, which is crucial for skill development. Our community needs a safe, inclusive, and modern space where our children can thrive.
