Como ciudadanos preocupados por el bienestar animal, estamos consternados por la situación de millones de animales abandonados en Puerto Rico que sufren y mueren en nuestras calles, playas y montes. Los rescatistas trabajamos incansablemente, pero no podemos hacerlo solos. El gobierno tiene fondos para eliminar a estos animales, pero no para esterilizarlos.

Por eso exigimos que se establezca un Foster's Place en cada pueblo de Puerto Rico. Estos centros proporcionarían servicios vitales como la esterilización, vacunación y buscarían hogares amorosos para nuestros amigos callejeros.

Según estimaciones conservadoras, hay más de 1, 000,000 perros callejeros solo en Puerto Rico (Humane Society of the United States). En San Juan nada más hay más de 1 millón de gatos. Como siempre la soluciòn del gobierno es matarlos! La sobrepoblación canina y gatuna es una crisis humanitaria que requiere nuestra atención inmediata y metodos compasivos para controlar la sobrepoblación de callejeros y educando la sociedad y el gobierno. 

Establecer un Foster's Place en cada pueblo ayudaría a controlar esta población y le daría a estos animales una segunda oportunidad. Además, la esterilización reduce el comportamiento agresivo y mejora la salud general del animal (American Veterinary Medical Association). Los animales abandonados es un problema social ignorado por todos. Con Foster's Places en cada pueblo, evitamos que mueran atropellados, que sean envenenados y maltratados por psicopatas.

Por favor únete a nosotros al firmar esta petición exigiendo un cambio necesario e inmediato. Exijamos un Foster's Place en cada pueblo, que se haga cumplir la ley 154, que haya policias preparados en cada precinto con el conocimiento animal apropiado y la compasión para protegerlos, educación en las escuelas sobre responsabilidad, empatia y compasiòn hacia los animales. Ademas, exijamos que cada Senador, Representante y Alcalde, el gobernador y comisionado tambien, tengan una solución para este problema social en su plataforma de trabajo y politica publica de nuestro pais.   ¡Juntos podemos hacer la diferencia, y ser la voz de los que no tienen voz, firma la petición!

English translation:

As citizens concerned about animal welfare, we are dismayed by the situation of millions of abandoned animals in Puerto Rico that suffer and die in our streets, beaches and mountains.  Rescuers work tirelessly, but we cannot do it alone. The government has funds to kill these animals, but not to sterilize them.

That is why we demand that a Foster's Place be established in every town(78) in Puerto Rico. These centers would provide vital services such as first aid, sterilization, vaccinations and find loving homes for our stray friends.

 According to conservative estimates, there are more than 1,000,000 stray dogs in Puerto Rico alone (Humane Society of the United States).  In San Juan alone, there are more than 1 million cats!  As always, the government's solution is to kill them!  

Dog and cat overpopulation is a humanitarian crisis that requires our immediate attention and compassionate methods to control stray overpopulation and educating society and the government about their role in been part of the solution. 

Establishing a Foster's Place in every town,  would help control this overpopulation of abandoned cats and dogs; and give these animals a second chance to find a forever home.  Additionally, neutering reduces aggressive behavior and improves the animal's overall health (American Veterinary Medical Association).  Abandoned animals are a social problem ignored by everyone!  With Foster's Places in every of the 78 towns, we prevent the abandoned animals from been killed on the streets, poisoned and mistreated by psychopaths.

Please join us by SIGNING this petition DEMANDING an immediate and necessary change to our public policies conserning stray animals. Let's demand a Foster's Place in every town, that Law 154 be enforced, that there be a prepared police force in every precinct with the appropriate animal knowledge and compassion to protect them; and education in our schools about responsibility, empathy and compassion towards animals.

Furthermore, let us demand that each Senator, Representative and Mayor, plus the governor and commissioner also, have a solution for this social problem in their work platform and public policy of our country.    TOGETHER we can make a difference, and be the voice of the voiceless, SIGN the petition!
