We, the undersigned Muslim students at NJIT, respectfully request increased security measures and exclusivity to ensure our safety while using the campus prayer room located in the basement of the Campus Center, room B35. Recent anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate crimes and rhetoric nationally have caused anxiety in our community. As the only religious group utilizing this vital space daily, with hundreds gathering for prayers each week, we seek reassurance that we can pray in peace on campus. Designating the prayer room solely for Muslim use, along with the addition of security personnel during prayer times, would provide significant comfort and protection. By signing below, you are voicing your support for these reasonable requests to the NJIT administration to help guarantee a safe and exclusive space for the large Muslim population to practice our faith. We aim to collect as many signatures as possible to demonstrate the strong need for these changes. Thank you for your support.
