The July 2019 draft new London Plan proposes that parking provision for new development in Kingston's "opportunity areas" where there is POOR transport accessibility will be much more severely restricted than in other similar areas in outer London

For example, each family moving in to a newly built home in Richmond or Sutton in an area designated as PTAL 2 will have provision for one car, whereas in Kingston's "opportunity area", only one in two families will be provided with a parking space

You can see the Public Transport Accessibility Level ("PTAL") score for your home here:

Several questions arise from this approach to "opportunity area" planning:

When was our council going to tell us about the implications of becoming an "opportunity area"?

We are being asked to say where we want the boundary for TWO "opportunity areas" in the Early Engagement for the Local Plan. How can we answer this question without information?

What does it mean for our ability to get around, when there is NO guarantee of improved transport infrastructure in the Borough apart from the GoCycle route?

The latest draft of the new London Plan has now deleted the 2033 anticipated arrival date of Crossrail 2 and replaced it with the "2030s"

Where will people park who are living in these developments and who still need a car?

What does this mean for residents who are living within the vast swathes of Kingston to be designated an "opportunity area" and who currently rely on street parking?

What does it mean for the future of parking charges?

What does it mean for the ability of people to reach out to each other in a society where we are increasingly isolated from each other and increasingly under pressure for time?
