Examine the Effects of at Abanon National High School
The Issue
My classmates and I are students at Abanon National High School. Recently, we've noticed a concerning trend - too many of us are falling sick, and we believe it's due to climate change. As students living in a world where the climate is swiftly changing, we fear for our health and want to understand the impact these changes are having on us.
It's not an unfounded claim. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year between 2030 and 2050. Diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress are expected to rise because of the warmer temperatures and extreme weather conditions.
We live in an era when scientists predict that over the next few decades, rising global temperatures will directly affect our everyday lives, creating health risks that indigenous populations did not face. As students, we should be concerned about this, as our futures are at stake.
This is why we are urging local educational authorities and health organizations to investigate the specific impact of climate change on Abanon National High School students. Only through exploring this issue can we uncover correlations and implement meaningful measures for protection and prevention.
To save our futures, and to protect our health, please sign this petition and bring attention to this important matter.
