Evict the Slumlord - Demand Safe, Livable Housing in Franklin County.

We’re told it’s affordable housing. Affordable for who?
Because between rent, bills, and replacing the stuff that breaks every month, this “affordable” life costs more than a mortgage.

And when we dare to ask for repairs?
We’re told to “be patient,” “stop complaining,” or “fix it yourself.”
One tenant gets a YouTube link, another gets a bottle of bleach, and if you’re lucky, you get a $10 discount next month for inconvenience.
we just need hot water, working appliances, drains that actually drain, and a landlord who doesn’t ghost maintenance requests like an ex.

Does this sound familiar?

We’re not demanding luxury.
We’re demanding livable.

  • Mandatory inspections for every rental property in Franklin County, especially mobile homes.
  • A tenant complaint hotline that actually enforces housing codes — not one that sends us in a loop of voicemails.
  • Fines and penalties for landlords who repeatedly ignore health and safety violations.
  • Proper pest control - no more “Amazon roach bait” solutions.
  • Licensed maintenance workers, not whoever owes the landlord a favor.
  • Upgraded plumbing and electrical to meet code and basic human safety standards.
  • Emergency maintenance response times that are tracked and enforced.
  • Transparency in rent increases - no more raising rent on homes falling apart.
  • Local housing assistance for tenants trapped in unsafe conditions.
  • Appliances that meet more than bare-minimum working requirements. That also don't show up dirty!

We’re not just complaining - we’re organizing.
We’re tired of being brushed off, ignored, or guilted for asking for what’s right. Our community deserves clean, safe, functional homes.

We pay rent. We deserve respect.

They take 100% of our rent and spend maybe 3% on repairs — and that’s only if you complain so much they finally fix something just to shut you up.

It’s time Franklin County enforces real housing standards and stops landlords from profiting off neglect.

Let’s push for accountability, inspections, and protection for every tenant who’s afraid to speak up because they can’t afford to move.
No more “fix it yourself” repairs. No more toxic mold, collapsing floors, and fire hazard wiring.

Despite the humor in all this, it’s not a joke.

This is about real families - kids growing up in moldy bedrooms, parents choosing between rent and repairs, and seniors living in unsafe homes because it’s all they can afford.

Neglect like this doesn’t just hurt tenants, it drags down the entire city.
It lowers property values, increases health risks, and drives out good families who just want stability.

We’re not asking for handouts.
We’re asking for accountability, safety, and dignity.

Because we might live in trailers but we’re not trash.
We’re neighbors. We’re workers. We’re families trying to survive in a system that’s left us behind.

It’s time for the slumlords of Franklin County to face some real consequences.
If they want our money, they can start earning it.

Stand with your neighbors!
Stand for livable housing!
Stand for the right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and live without fear of the floor caving in.

We, the people of Franklin County, deserve better - and we’re done staying quiet about it!
