Our mayor this evening decided to cancel all major events in New Orleans this weekend. Except for one. The mayor's ball. Why you ask. Probably because this is an event where she will line her pokets for the present and the future. This event is no different than any others she cancelled this weekend if her sincere interest in people's safety. If she is going to put a drain on the city and it's workers than she should be willing to do the same for herself. This is what seems to be a recurring situation with our Mayor recently. Taking a bad situation and making it worse. I agree that taking steps to limit the spread of "the virus" are necessary, but this makes no sense. Hundreds of thousands of tourists will be in New Orleans this weekend. Cancelling events such as parades put them in more confined spaces. Hospitality workers who look forward to this very lucrative weekend as well as parade participants who are very well invested in their respective event are left empty handed. Like I said before. Cancel ALL events not all the events except the one she will profit from. If we loose out our mayor should too. After all she's just trying to keep the city safe. Right? N
